Naples Florida Real Estate: ...And By The Way, I Read Your Blog!

...And By The Way, I Read Your Blog!

Unless you joined Active Rain an hour ago, there's no mystery about how popular & worth while real estate blogging is becoming.  But, I must say I don't think I've ever gotten a client strictly from my blog.  I'm pretty sure most people I'm working with now and in the past found me first from my Naples, Florida real estate website, www.ShannonLefevre.comand then stumbled upon my blog later on.

Although my secret attempt is to make the consumer think the word "Shannon" or maybe "Smart Girl" when they're thinking about Naples, Florida real estate, much like Kleenex got the world to replace "Kleenex with the words "facial tissue".

I am not attempting to capture buyers and sellers from a long list of short stories regarding our market or my experiences along the way. Since I'm sharing my inner soul right now I'll even venture to say that I started blogging for the sheer force of SEO ranking and never really expected anyone to actually read what I have to say...how silly...and boring...humph!

So you can imagine my surprise after I started blogging on Active Rainand the comments from other professionals started showing up.  What a shock...kinda cool...ok that's a neat little bonus...and then the relationships across the country with fellow "Rainers" started to build...completely unexpected and what a pleasant surprise but still understandable.  Hey we all have something in common...so after thinking about it...yeah cool perks but it all really does make sense!

Then....(Jaws music please...du du du du...)

My first customer who seemed extremely serious about purchasing about half way through our purchasing adventure says, oh yeah you said that in one of your posts...HUH? What are you talking about?  You're not supposed to be reading that....oh wait...actually you are and holy cow batman...you did!  That was a really weird feeling!  It was almost as if he'd said...yep while you weren't looking I took a peek in your closet.  It felt really personal and almost hard to believe until the fright set in.

OMG...how many stupid things have I written on my posts...was my grammar ok, did I seem smart...was my slip showing?  My life flashed before my eyes and then I remembered, he was buying a house from me so it must not have been that bad.

Then the second guy said it except this time he said, I read every post...SERIOUSLY?  I had over 100 posts by then...hmmm BlogStalker?  Nope just a guy doing his homework...still front and center so the panic didn't last nearly as long as the first time.

Then the third guy...and well you get it...but what really was interesting was the fact that all of these people were really smart.  Don't get me wrong.  I'm not saying I only worked with idiots before I started blogging because I've had the luxury of working with smart people in the past but I have to wonder if I'm scaring all (or at least most) of the idiots away with my posts today.  Don't get me wrong, I don't think that's a bad thing. :) But I do see a measurable difference of intelligence since I started blogging.  Now that's something I didn't expect either!

So for those of you who haven't heard, "...and by the way, I read your blog".  No need to shift into hyperventilation therapy or anything crazy like that.  It's just a sign that your working your blog and your blog is in fact working for you!

Serving my purpose through content rich informaton about Naples, Florida real estate!

Best Regards!

Happened today to me at the dog groomer!  She says, "Boy, it sounds like the market is stronger than the media would have you believe."  It is, I replied, but where are YOU hearing this?  "Well, on your blog."

Yep, it works!

Be of service! The rewards will come!

Shannon, I'm working with my first buyers that came directly from my blog, and you are right - they are better informed and smarter than the average bear.  Can't wait to be able to post that first AR closing story!

Shannon, I was starting to have my doubts about blogging then just 2 days ago, I received a call from someone who found one of my blogs about a condo community that he is interested in.  Hmmmm, maybe blogging does work!

Shannon, what you've said here is so true.  People do read these blogs...and they are taking the time to come to serious conclusion.  Hence...the smarter client. :)  Really enjoyed reading this post.

Shannon - I am sure you will get many more clients down the road from your blog. It does work. It does really make you stop and think about what you are writing and just as important commenting on.

Shannon:

Thanks for comments on my blog. In reference to your article, about 5 or 6 times I have received random comments from the community outside AR on one or more of my blog posts. It reminds me that the others are watching. Ha

SHANNON - It's great to hear that consumers are reading your blogs.  I know that mine are being read, but not too many people have told me so yet.  However, there was one instance in the fall where one of my neighbors told me that they read my blog because I had written about homecoming weekend.  She found it on a Google search.  It just goes to show the importance of writing about topics that interest people, and not just ourselves.

I was chuckling all the way through this.  Yep, I've heard that, too!  "By the way, I read your blog".  There are a couple I went back to and changed to "Members Only" after that started happening.

Hey Shannon!  I am back after a long time out of the rain.  I loved this post.  I had not written anything for a long time until just recently.  I forgot how fun it could be!  I am always flattered when people tell me they like my writing...  Keep up the excellent work.  Sweet post!

Shannon, I can totally identify with this post!  When you get the "Oh, yeah! You said that in your blog" thing I always gulp at some of the stuff I've posted late on a Sunday night after a couple of glasses of wine and yikes!  So, anyway, I laughed pretty hard reading yours tonight!

Hi Shannon, I hope most people never find some of my first post :), does make you feel good to go back and see how far you have grown.  I was scared to death to write my first one, and I've not been around or am as even close to you, but do see a difference.  Striving all the time to improve...you never know who might read it as you so well pointed out.  Liz

I had my doubts about blogging and felt like many other people on AR.  I didn't think people will read my blog or even if my blogs made sense. Until one day I received an email from a guy who wanted to list his home.  He told me he read my blog and liked what he read.  So It told me people really look and read.  Though I continue to blog so the world can get to know me.  Though this is a great blog.  Looking forward to reading more good things from you!
