I now have been "My Favorite Book" meme'd by Jason Crouch one of my most favorite people on Active Rain. I highly suggest if you don't know him, you get to know him because he is an amazing creature! I have certainly been blessed with his friendship...ok so...my favorite books...Here they are in no particular order:

How To Develop A Six Figure Income In Real Estate By Mike Ferry
This book was written 3,000 years ago by Mike Ferry (my all time favorite trainer). I'm sure by now some of what he discusses has changed with the new tech wave but the basics are definitely covered. I doubt I have lived one day of my real estate career without using and or thinking of something I learned from him and/or this book. It is an excellent and easy read and still covers all the basics needed to become an AWESOME REALTOR.
DISCLAIMER: IF YOU ARE WEAK AT HEART THIS BOOK IS VERY HONEST AND DIRECT WHICH MAY OFFEND YOU...PUT YOUR BIG PANTS ON AND YOUR TIMID FEELINGS AWAY...IT'S WORTH IT!!!
Seven Habits Of Highly Effective People By Stephen R. Covey
This is another book I read 100 years ago...ok so it feels like 100 years ago. For some odd reason, I picked it up and read it again about a year ago. It freaked me out how much content from this book is stuff I live by on a daily basis. If you are one of the three people left in the world who didn't read it...I highly recommend it.

Chicken Soup For The Soul Jack Canfield (Author), Mark Victor Hansen (Author)
This is another oldie but a goodie! I think I read the first 10 books in this series so I can't tell you much about the newer releases. These are an excellent grouping of 2-3 page stories that will inspire you and keep you engaged...Excellent for those with A.D.D. like me who have short attention spans and lives they need to attend to who can't spend hours on end with their nose in a book. The word SOUL should be bigger because it really is "Soul Food".
The Secret By Jack Canfield
There's a lot of hocus pocus associated with this book and there's still quite a bit of mystery as to how you "apply" the Secret for some people but seriously, read the whole thing...even the really silly parts. It's not that you're going to have some break through but every time I get 2 seconds to myself, I practice what I learned in the book and I have seen some pretty wacky (but good) results!

The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell
This is such a cool book about consumer behavior. It stirs those creative juices in your head about what you can do as an individual and as a business person...it's light and very entertaining reading with real "I bet you didn't know", examples of how some little things can make all the difference in the world.
Driven From Within By Michael Jordan and Mark Vancil
Very inspiring and just the thing to read if you need a good jolt of energy! There are some magical things you learn about Michael Jordan and some of his teammates and those secret ingredients they have that made them the exceptional players they were/are. It will encourage you to work out your mind and increase your business stamina for sure. Oh yeah, I can't forget to include so wildly insightful things you get to read about Nike and how they compete as a company...Well worth the read.
The Merriam-Webster Dictionary....Just teasin...I haven't read this one...yawn!
So that's what I got...Hope you enjoy the post.
Serving my purpose through content rich informaton about Naples, Florida real estate!

Excellent book choices , Shannon...I've read all but the Secret and the Michael Jordan one. You write wonderful book reviews.

Shannon,
I agree about Jason, but LOL I owe him 20K for a house that hasn't arrived from Fed Ex yet :) :) Anyway, I can't say I've read any of these except #3......and yes, it is Soul Food.....I used to love to read, now it is a luxury......has to wait till vacation time :)
Shannon - I am overwhelmed by your incredible compliments. I truly appreciate this. You got your meme done so quickly (I am not surprised - I think you operate in overdrive most of the time). Well done! I have read most of these books, and there are some classics represented here. I knew you wouldn't disappoint!
As for the Mike Ferry book, why would I want to go back to making only six figures? :)
Shannon, LOL, yeh, the dictionary was a long read. I hadn't even considered that one in the list (I've never read it either ). Thanks for the morning smile,
Jo
KATHY: A 20,000 dollar house that's arriving by fedex...??? It could happen! Don't tell anybody but with all the time we spend on Active Rain, we're reading now more than ever...and learning alot more too!
JASON: Operate in overdrive? Is there another gear? I'm glad I didn't disappoint you...I know the 6 figure title shows it's age but it's still a great beginner bible for those just getting into the biz and for those who got in and still don't know what to do...if it were a required read in real estate school it just might weed out some of those, "real estate is easy" people.
KATHY: I think Jason picked me cuz he may not have been sure I know how to read a book wthout pictures...he could've been fishing for Christmas ideas for his kids. :)
JO-ANNE: I'm glad you got a giggle...I did writing it! Have a great day!
TOM: Blogging books? COOL! I have to check it out...if I wrote a blogging book today it would be called, "Everything I Know About Blogging I Owe To My Friends From Active Rain". Thanks for stopping by and I can't wait to check out Realty Blogging!
Shannon- I love picture books, thought they were the only kind. An no "My House" was gratis, just had to pay the shipping.......inside joke, ask Jason........
Oha and about the reading here on AR......yep some of it is like a book, with chapters even....have a great weekend.
Shannon - Your comment to Kathy was hilarious. I know you are smart enough to handle this task, or I wouldn't have chosen you. I chose you because I knew yours would be fun! I also recently bought "Realty Blogging". Interesting read.
Kathy - Just put on some sunscreen and continue waiting. It will definitely arrive -
Kathy: I did too! :) I'm too scared to know the joke, Texas is the MO-BILE home capital of the world....I hope you have extra parking.
Jason: Make sure the home you send Kathy includes a floor that isn't rotting out k? I've put my foot through two of them in my old Texas real estate days! GLAMOROUS!!!
Jason: A sink hole? I gotta say, that still sounds better than putting your foot through a floor...great...now I sound like a 500 lb gorilla! Anyone got any cupcakes???
Where does a 500 lb. gorilla stand? Anywhere it wants to, even if it is right through the floor of your home, apparently.
In the home we saw, it honestly looked like a small den for rabbits or something. Very weird! I was shocked that they were showing it without fixing this.
